PiYo – An Incredible New 90 Day Program that will Amaze You!
For Hikers and Backpackers, we are always concerned with saving our joints and protecting our knees so that we can hike on into our golden years. Many times we are afraid of high impact workouts, cardio or even running because we don’t want to do any damage that would prevent us from doing what we love.
Well, this workout may be the best thing since freeze dried meals!! This program promises to be kind to our bodies while giving us the strength and tone we need to stay strong and hike on.
What is PiYo?
PiYo is a hybrid, athletic workout, which combines the mind/body practices of yoga and Pilates, as well as the principles of stretch, strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement. During a PiYo class, you will find yourself standing in a yoga pose one minute, and down on the floor in a Pilates pose the next!
Who is PiYo for?
This version of PiYo was created so people with knee, back and joint issues could get their cardio effect without jumping around and sculpt their bodies without destroying them! Or for people who are concerned with saving their knees, back and joints have a great option for maximum fitness.
It is a pre-designed class that will really get your heart rate going as it features various styles of yoga and Pilates in continuous movement and flow from one exercise to another. Some of you or you have friends who have been dying for a transformational program that’s easy on your joints but delivers hard body results, then this program may be perfect for you!

Sometimes PiYo is described as a hyper version of yoga, but with the benefits of deep breathing, balance, stretching, strengthening and relaxation. And to top it all off, the music is awesome! Best of all, everyone can do it.

I will tell you with all honesty, this has been one of the best workouts for us. It has increased our stride length and ability to hike a little further each time. It’s so gentle on your body, but super effective. Don’t get me wrong, this is no wimpy workout. It will totally kick your butt!!
